Default What would you do-why?

I'm buying an ultra. This will be my 5th Harley and I've been set on the Uktra for awhile. I've narrowed the search down to two bikes but need some input from those that have been there and done that. It's splitting hairs at this point, so a little extra sway from Uktra owners might help steer me in the direction of one bike.

First - 2010 ultra classic $15,000 9,900 miles. Screaming eagle stage 2 installed with 255 cans. Makes it a 103 that i understand is more potent than the stock 103, or so I've heard. V&H , and tuner.

Second bike- 2012 ultra classic $15000 6000 miles. Stock 103. Rush exhaust and power commander, otherwise stock.

Do I go for newer with less miles or a little older with not many more miles and the motor upgrades? What would you?

Btw- ones dark blue ones black so not a major difference their either.

Id be patient a little longer. Used 14 Rushmores can't be too far off those prices your looking at.

either one have gear-driven cams? I have heard stories about TC engines having "issues" with cam chain tensioner deterioration... and also with the runout of the mainshaft sometimes being great enough to make retrofitted gears impossible.... So I have heard.

I might look at the maintenance details too - how well the maintenance has been done. there are always clues. particularly interesting might be how precisely the R-wheel's aligned and how close to ideal the belt tension is, check break-away torques on a few fasteners....that sort of clue. plugs properly tight? antiseized? etc etc.

best of luck - they both sound pretty good...

"if" I had to choose between those two, I'd go with the '12....

But, if it were me shopping for an Ultra, I'd wait till a Nice used Rushmore surfaced... The '14s are not that much over your current listed choices.

Twin cams have had few issues with cam tensioners since 2007. 2006 on Dynas.

The 12.. No brainer. The 103 will pull a head wind way better. Better ride also.. I have the stage 2 96ci and can run with the 103 on the low end side but, the 103 will pull way better at highway speed. Cubic inches is the way to go.

Go with the 12. I own a 2013 I built from salvage and love it. Just turned 10,000 miles of reliable fun miles. Good luck with your decision.

Can't go wrong with either one. Was the 103 upgrade on the 2010 done was by dealer or owner?
Check both out and get the one you like best.

Heck if you want to spend $15,000 I'll sell you mine but it's got 30,000 miles.
