Default Trying to go cheaper

Not just another oil thread, I don't think. Long story short, bought my first touring bike in 2011, always had trouble finding neutral after a couple of thousand miles, dealer said it was a common complaint and recommended Red-Line, bought it, life was good. Traded for the 2015 Limited, thought Red-Line was just too high at $25/quart now, had them dump Bel-Ray in there at my 1K, life is still good on the new bike. Question is, do the Rushmore bikes have the same problems finding neutral that older bikes did? About to do my 5K and trying to save a buck or two any way I can.

Don't have an answer to the question of whether the Rushmore bikes have neutral issues.
But a question for you.
Since what you have is working, why change for a couple bucks? If you do and develop the problem then you'll have to have it done again. All to save a couple dollars.
Owning a HD is expensive and if you really want to save some money, learn to do the maintaince work yourself. It won't affect the warranty.

110K on a RG and every once in awhile neutral is hard to find I chalk it up to either slop tight clearances or maybe the gears just are off at that time. its the least of my worries

Buy my redline heavy shockproof on eBay, usually $17-18 free shipping and no tax. 10K between changes and the cost isn't bad.

Like I said in the post, I'm about to do my 5k, so yeah, I am doing it myself. But begs another question. Why is that folks on here always think just because you love to ride you should be able to wrench?

I didn't mean that to sound as harsh as it did, sorry.
You said you had them put Bel Ray in at the 1k. It sounded to me like you were going to have them do the 5k.
I'd guess there are as many reasons why as there are wrenchers. For me it's largely because I don't trust others to do the work properly. That and the pride and satisfaction of doing it myself and, yes, saving some money. Also, since I save money on the labor I feel like I can spend a bit extra to use quality materials.

Never had a problem finding neutral on mine. From what I've read, too much oil in the primary can make things tougher.

I hear ya on that. But before the Evo days, you needed some wrenching ability to be able to ride. It was part of the experience!

After 25 H-D's I have found that the careful and correct adjusting of the clutch will yield easy neutral shifts from either down or up.

When the instructions says turn in the adjuster until it makes contact. Don't ham fist it. As you do with a micrometer just gently brush it between your thumb and index finger. When it instructs to turn a half to full turn back do the full turn. Also when done go back and repeat. From time to time the second time will work better. I had one bike a 12 RGC took three times to get set were it should be. That info came from H-D tech. com.

Bel ray spectrol or any synthetic 85 140 gear lube works. Even formula +

I have switched so many times. I now buy napa synthetic 85/140 at about 7 bucks a bottle.

No issues, 1 bike 18k, 1 bike 12k, 1 bike 180k.
