My light is a sealed bulb, these look like plug ins. After doing some searching I see you can get into a lot of cash on lighting. I am just looking for a sealed bulb that I can just swap out that would be better than I have that I believe came stock.
I have an 01 FLHRI. I also thought it was a sealed bulb, but it's not. It's an H4. Take the bulb out of the nacelle and pull the rubber grommet off of it and you will see that the H4 comes out.
X2 on cleaning the inside of the lens while you have the bulb out. Just had mine apart about a month ago and it was a huge difference after I cleaned it.
Cleaning is never a bad idea. But a 15 year old 55w incandescent light bulb can only do so much. If you want the cheapest possible solution, spend 9 bucks on Amazon and get a 80-100w Hella H4. Absurd amounts of light on the cheap. But you MUST MUST MUST use a ceramic plug with them. On Amazon that will cost another $12. But for under $25, you will have stupid light output that rivals the Moco daymaker, without any blind spots. It ain't DOT, if that bothers you though. That's why I took mine out in favor of a DOT option. But its cheap!!!
I don't mind spending a few bucks for better lighting like 50-100.00. What I have seen is people complaining about with some is a lot of light up front but not much spread of the light to the sides.

Tracker1, unless someone replaced your headlight with a sealed unit (possible, but unlikely), it will indeed have a removable H4 bulb, and be able to be cleaned.
It's also possible the H4 bulb that is installed is a junk cheapie that doesn't throw light well or accurately, or that it was installed incorrectly, having it off center and not throwing the light right at all.
I went out this morning and shined a flashlight into the lens and it does appear to be a removable H4 bulb. I am going to clean the lens and check it out and see what that does. The lens looks foggy.
That will kill illumination on the road. Just as the foggy plastic headlights on many cars kills their illumination.
Be aware that many H4 bulbs do not like to be touched with oily human fingers. Keep it clean, and wipe it with alcohol if you do finger the bulb. The oils can leave brownish burn marks on the bulb, and can cause the bulb to shatter when hot. Never seen the latter, but it is a general caution given by the bulb makers.
