I just got a 2001 RK after not having a Harley for 20 years. I think it has a stock headlight and if it is it looks like not much has changed, it's not very good. What's out there for a better headlight?
I'm pretty sure you're bike runs the exact same H4 light that's on my bike. I recently installed an OPT7 headlight. I am having excellent results. I tried the Fuel Moto and it was an epic failure in my Road King.
One thing to consider. Once you pull the headlight, CLEAN the inside. Over the years they can fog up on the inside. That alone can drastically cut light output. Again, this OPT7 really is bright, but unlike many older attempts at drop in H4's, this new style seems to really work well in my 7 inch housing. I get a good light pattern on the ground, and high beam goes forever. And at 3500 lumens.... it's darn bright. I'm pretty happy.

I've had the HD Daymaker LED headlight for a couple of years now and I really like it. It made a huge difference. Proper aiming is absolutely necessary to get the best result and not blind other traffic though. The downside is cost.

+1 on the opt7 led bulb. For $55 you can't beat it. Love mine. I also use some JDM A star led bulbs for the driving lights. Also on Amazon. $30 for the pair. They match the headlight perfectly and are very very bright.
