I drove my 2020 Street Glide today in 80 degree temps, and it came on at the light. Drove my deployed neighbor’s 2019 Street Glide today at his request, and it also came on after just a couple of miles of riding at a traffic light.
The bike does what the owners manual says it’ll do. Back cylinder cuts off, idles like a Honda, and the RPMs go from 850 to about 1000. Then stutters at take off if I haven't blipped the throttle once first.
Don’t like it. Disabled it. I ride solo, don’t haul much gear, don’t ride in parades or get stuck in traffic where I am, and once it hits the 90’s I don’t ride in our humidity much anyway.
I've never ran with it enabled on either of my bikes that had it. Just don't care for how it makes the bikes feel. Kinda of like the "Displacement on Demand" thing on my truck and car. I have had them disabled too. IT SUCKS !
Before I left the dealership with my new SG, my salesman, of course, went over a few things. One of the cool and new (to me) things was the EITMS--my older RK's and softails never had this, and although i'm inclined to split traffic instead of letting my engine roast, it was nice to hear that there was this protection available for my new bike. The salesman stated that while Harley calls it a "comfort" feature to avoid cooking the rider/passengers legs, many believe that it goes a long way toward protecting the engine during slow going on hot days.
My question is, why would anyone ever turn this feature off? Any downsides?
Excuses always amaze me. Guess that is why HD can sell the same old thing year after year. EITMS works very well in the heat but not for the old school biker. The sound ? It cools the motor, what does it matter what it sounds like ?

I find many things in life where people get so focused on solving one problem that they create a multitude of others....just to "solve" one. The the side effects of the solution are worse than the original symptoms of the problem.
I'm resistant to change... prefer the devil I know

If Harley made their bikes sound like a Honda because it would cool better would you still buy one?
