I'm kinda unsure about the wethead. Just seems like one more thing to fix. Not sure how many people have had any issues with the cooling system on the wethead.

It is another component to maintain for sure but the kinks have been worked out now. If I could afford to buy a new bike right now it would be a new Limited. I am keeping mine though and probably buying a used Heritage . Maybe this fall...

Don't know about the HD but I had a Suzuki 800 Intruder that I bought new in '99. It was liquid cooled and shafts drive. It rode cool and smooth with no hint of any issues. Of course it didn't have that HD mystique but it was a fun bike.
Buddies with the water cooling have no complaints that I've heard.

That would be an insult but it's reality....it's the miles, a sales mgr told me if it was over 72000 it dropped like a rock in value because it can't be warranted on a ESP anymore.

Makes sense. Just sucks that there was that big of a difference between the value online and the value in person.

If you want to sell, do it yourself. Make sure it is very clean and price it accordingly, probably around 10k.... It will be hard....Me I knew I was keeping it so I made the decision at About 60000 miles. My rep at the local dealer was great, he is gone now...He was a true salesperson. He was a sales coach, gave me honest opinions that prevented me from buying the wrong bike and advised me against some add ons that were really not needed....I remember at around 50000 miles when I was ready to put cams in, he said...Make sure what you are doing is adding trade value if you are going to trade in the next year or so. When I hit 70000 miles he said , last chance to trade....I said thanks Jimmy but she's a keeper.....Now I am very happy I still have it.

Were the prices quoted on your bike off of the full MSRP of a new bike?

If it was, it sounds like they are figuring you have a $6000 bike in what motorcycle and car dealers term Actual Cash Value (ACV), then over allowed a grand to show you $7000. An over allowance is the same as a discount off the MSRP.

A new 16 LTD has about a $5000 mark up, so cost, including the freight is about $21500. So, using those numbers, cost less ACV equals a trade difference of $15500. The 17s will be out in 2 months. Offer them a $500 profit - $16000, and see what they say. It doesn't matter what they show as a selling price or a trade allowance, the trade difference number is the key. You'll have to pay sales tax, registration, and the bs dealer fee on top of that, but in the real world, that would probably be a good deal - if you have to trade in your bike and if you have to have a new bike.

Just 2 side notes:
ACV is an opinion of what something is worth. Shop around, someplace else may value your bike more, or less.
If you can't get near that $16k trade difference, (I wouldn't go over $16500) wait another month or two, or take a hard look at a used LTD. The used market is soft and even if you buy at a dealership there are usually no bs dealer fees. Or take a trip to Florida.....if your bike is worth $6k ACV, there are dealers here that will make that deal.

That's what I was thinking about doing. The dealer doesn't think I will have much luck selling it because of the miles. If it's sells, fine, if not, that's fine too.

I was looking at used bikes, the new ones cost too much.
