103 Engine
I really like my bike and it runs really good. I just worry about the longer I keep, the less it will be worth, especially since it already has 101,000 miles. Part of me wants to keep it till the wheels fall off but part of me worries about not getting anything for it when it comes time to get rid of it.
On keeping the old and buying a new one. I have a friend who did just that. His first HD was an 03 Road King - he loved and babied that bike In 2014 he bought a new Ultra Limited. Since then the RK sees very road time. Now, two years later, he is taking as many upgrades as he can off and selling them in preparation to sell it - with 2 years of extra depreciation. Another thing to consider is that two bikes means two times the upkeep, maintaince, taxes and insurance.
It's a hard and personal decision you have to make. Both choices, 3 if you include do nothing, have advantages and disadvantages and the decision is all up to you.
My 07 Ultra has SE cams, true duals, pipes, tuner, yada, yada and I know what I'd do if I could, I have ridden my friends 14 and the overall difference is pretty impressive and I have no need for two.
At 100000 mikes you have gone past the value part so you might as well keep it..about the same boat I was in..I could've sold it for $7-8000 bucks or got about $5-6000 on trade but that was just not acceptable me. ....
Obviously the older the bike gets the less it will be worth, up to a point. The thing is, as soon as you buy another bike, it too starts losing value. Since it has a greater value they depreciation will be proportional more.

I actually did a appraisal online with my local dealer and they said that their sight unseen trade in value is $9,095-$10,872. Who knows how much they would try to lowball me if they saw it in person. The bike is still in really good condition.
I had a 2010 Heritage Softail that I took from 96" to 103", Cometic Head Gaskets took me to 10.5:1 Compression Ratio, Installed Andews 26h Cams, V&H Big Shot Longs, SE Air Cleaner and TTS MasterTune Reprogram of the ECU. This really made a HUGE difference. What sold me on the 2015 Ultra Limited (Wet Head) was when the Wife and I test drove it. It's not qute what my 2010 Heritage build had . . . but damn it is so very, very close. Other than the SE Street Cannon Slip-on's this 2015 Ultra Limited may be the very first Harley that I've ever owned that I leave the engine completely stock!
I'm pretty sure this is on the money. So your bike has pretty much bottomed out, its not going to go down too much more because just about any Touring Harley will bring $5k wholesale and close to $7k retail. If your dealer is suggesting they would give you $9000 - $10800 (which is quite a spread!), tell the dealer to cut you a check, then go buy a late model used one. And don't pay the asking price, lol.
Yeah, I don't have a need for 2 bikes either nor do I have the space.

That price is a sight unseen trade in price. I'm off this Friday and was thinking about going by there and how low they try to make the trade in price. At least then I will know for sure.
