I noticed when looking at my tune on computer that my EITMS on temp was 145 C and there is a EITMS off temp but it has no value My question is should there be a value there? Thanks
This is my understanding of what activates and deactivates EITMS.
EITMS will activate (rear cylinder will turn off) when all of the following conditions are met:
• Engine temperature exceeds 284°F / 140°C
• Vehicle speed under 1 mph / 2 km/h
• Throttle is at idle with engine speed under 1200 rpm
EITMS will disable (rear cylinder will again fire) if any one of the following occurs:
• Engine temperature falls below 275°F / 135°C
• Vehicle speed exceeds 2 mph / 3 km/h
• Throttle is opened with engine speed above 1350 rpm
• Clutch is released with vehicle in gear
I was wondering how many riders disable it even on hot days. I know I got my bike back from being serviced and they had disabled it, probably for the test ride. I am not sure how much hotter it runs without it on. Not sure if it is bad to disable it for everyday driving if the traffic is not that bad or your not stopped/idling for extended periods.
I left it on when I had my 2011 Road King, I leave it off on my 2016. There is no point for it to come on just because the air temp is 80, if the engine is cool/normal temp.
I don't care for the way it operates on the new bikes. should have left it the way it was on the pre-Rushmore bikes. Anyone know why they added the ambient temp sensor?
