mine must not work. I have turned it on and off many times, ridden in 100+ heat in stop and go
traffic, never had it activate. and sometimes it seems to turn on and off by itself, perhaps by
accident when turning around in the shop.

probably never get around to having it fixed.
"If it does not work, do not fix it"
I’m beginning to wonder the same thing about mine. The 2011 FLTRU I used to have would activate it on a regular basis. Most any time I got in stop and go traffic. Kind of annoying actually. My 2017 Heritage has 8200 miles on it and the EITMS has never engaged even one time. Today I went on my first HOG ride of the season. Ambient temp was low 80s and we did a good bit of stop and go city riding. Didn’t come on narry a time and yes, it is enabled. I’m hoping the bike just runs cooler than the Road Glide did. It seems to for sure. It does have catless exhaust. Not sure if that helps it run cooler or not. Some of the experts on here say removing the cats has no effect on engine temp.
