On my 2016 Road Glide my speed volume control doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is that common with these new radios or should I say something to the dealer or is there an update for these radios? Plus the radio sitting still sounds good and Loud going down the road it doesn't seem very loud maybe it's because the Road Glide fairing is farther away than the street glide fairing. I don't know but definitely doesn't seem to be as loud as what my streetglide was
The auto volume on my '14 Limited works- sort of. I think I have the sensitivity maxed all the way, and I do notice the volume going lower but not until I'm pretty much at a complete stop. As far as overall volume goes, mine is very adequate at pretty much any speed I ride- max of 80 mph, more typically at 65 to 70, with a 3/4 helmet. Not sure if that is due to the 4 speakers, or the closeness of the Batwing fairing vs your RG speakers, not as familiar with that layout. Are you on the current version of the Boom Audio software? I think the last release was back in Febuary. You could run it by the dealer, but not sure what they'd do for you- maybe test it? If the audio head (or whatever it's called) is blamed and the dealer does offer to replace it, find out if you're going to get a new or remanufactured unit. Not sure I'd want to trade mine in on another used one if the only thing that bothered me was this auto volume thing.

Didn't do a test ride on an RG before buying?
I determined the radio volume on the RG sucked first time I rode one. And way too much wind noise for a fairing bike makes it worse.
As for the AVC, many report it works, many say it doesn't. I believe it works if at very low volumes, but when cranked up loud enough to really hear the music, it's effectiveness is so poor that it essentially does nothing. Been that way since day one, Rushmore model 1.
As for taking it in cuz it's under warranty? Maybe come winter, but they won't be able to fix it because "they all do that". Just keep it & ride. You want to hear your tunes, plan to spend $$ to add an amp & upgrade speakers.

Very true. The avc is hit or miss mine works half the time on my SG but i can hear the radio unlike the 3 Rg s i rode
Amp & better speakers is the way to go - if you really don't think the speed volume is working then have it checked under warranty next time you plan to bring the bike over to the dealer -
Mine on my 14 Limited is barely noticeable, but does work somewhat. Do you have the stock windshield ? I think an after market shield will help some, those stockers are short

No didn't do a test ride. I agree with the steetglide seems to sound better and I believe it is because the speakers are closer . I'm not gonna mess with it till I take it in for a service. Then after that if nothing g changes i will do an amp and speakers.

Make sure you have the latest software update. There was an issue with the AVC that was fixed with the latest update, at least it was on mine and for a lot of others.
Mine didn't work with the latest software update until I did a factory reset. It started working after that. If updating to the latest software doesn't solve the issue a reset may help.
