Default Docking confusion

I have an 06 FLHT. If I install the proper 4 point docking hardware can I use any of the backrests or tour Pak mounts? Most that I see are 09 and up.

Probably not, They're actually a 6 point system, With the foreward most points using the shock mounts inside the shocks.

The docking setup is different from 08 down and 09 up.

On a '06 model, three sets of mounts would cover most applications. If you install the forward two mounts, a detachable backrest would go there. The tourpak mount uses one of those and one more is needed.

What they said. You need year and model or year and model group ie 07 to 99. Go to the Harley site and check fitment. Mike

Ok so I see plenty of the four point docks, but does the qd tour Pak mounts require a 6 point? Is that something you add to the 4 point docking setup or do you have to buy a specific 6 point docking kit?

I believe it's the same design for both generations. 08 and back, and 09 and up. The Luggage rack, and Tour pack use the four actual docking points on the 4pt docking station. The Passenger Back rest, uses the top of your shocks, and the front two docking points. Then if you had a luggage rack on it with the Passenger Back rest,, it used all 6 pts at the same time.
