Default Road Glide Police Model ????

does harley make a Road Glide Police model ? one for actual police use, not the firefighter, police models. like the Road Kings and ElectraGlides.

if a citizen wanted to order a police model for non-police use, would a harley dealer order one for him ? or are they restricted to police departments ? minus the blue lights, siren, etc.

the reason i think there MIGHT be such a model is that that Texas Dreams dealer on Ebay , i think, had one listed quite a while ago. he seems to buy used police bikes in quantity.

i'll check that retired police bike site, perhaps they'll know.

thanks

I can't imagine any police department wanting one. Though the frames are identical, the fixed fairing bike gets a little 'unwieldy' in tight spaces.

Nope. The width of the fairing is smaller than the handlebars, and about the same as the width of the saddlebags, which are the same as on RK's and all batwing bikes.

I know that, but having the front fairing turn with the wheel seems to help get it out of the garage easier too.

Basically you are just looking for a "special paint- if you can;t get through the dealer- any local body/paint could give you whatever paint job you want.

PD bikes are not "special".
Although the 95, 103 and ABS were first offered on twin cam cop bikes, the "Pursuit" motor option was last offered on the Evo models, the "Parade" motor was last offered on Shovel heads.
Some PD bikes are emission control exempt- for instance CHP bikes are not required to have vapour canisters- although they may.
emissions exempt cannot be sold new to an individual, although they may be resold at a later date

So if a cop looking road glide is what you want, buy one off the floor and have it painted.

a real cop bike is stripped of radio etc and may have electrical stuff you don;t want or need- and extra red switches

traditional colors are vivid black and birch white ( my 88 CHP FXRP)- previous cop bikes came from HD in Silver 40's, 50's.

there are a number of great 2 tone looks out there- some PD's add the officer's name on a plaque or painted on the tank.

pride of "ownership".

Your easiest route is buy a roadglide, get it painted- the complexity of converting a FLHTP to a RG fairing is a high bar, this has been done by members on the forums, there are threads.
and you'd still be looking at paint

if you didn;t want the radio, you can sell it...don;t know if motorcycle resale value would work into your equation...

the reason i ask.........having a police electraglide as my favorite bike, a new or newer white road glide that is stripped of infotainment, entertainment equipment is exactly the bike i want.

just hoping to get it in an easier fashion.

hmm- I gotta couple of FXRP fairings in my shed....could probably fit one onto a cop road king pretty easy

I've had a few cop bikes ( I learned to ride on my local PD bikes, servicars, sidecar combinations and then solos...)

FXRP after the cop stuff fell off:
