Default Toe shifter stripped

So on my way home yesterday my toe shifter pushed down past the point of where it should have. Last night I made sure the allen bolt securing it was tight. And it was really tight, started to strip the bolt when tightening. This morning on way in to work it's now just flopping up and down now. Thankfully the heel shifter is getting the job done for me for the time being. I haven't had the time to pull it apart yet but wondering if it would be the toe shifter that stripped or the shaft it connects to? What do you think?

Lots of threads on this topic, seem to point to the shaft more often than the lever.

Pretty common. The shifter lever is purposely made with a softer medal than the shaft to fail in accidents. Once they start to fail, it's pretty much over for them no matter how hard you torque them down. It happens to most of us.

Be sure and torque your new one down to specs and use blue Loctite on the bolt.

Well Beary's post conflicts with the previous two. My money is on Beary.

Are you sure that it's not the arm off the trans behind the clutch? That usually goes first - Eastcoast Jim

Thanks for the replies, And yeah I'm sure it's not the tranny end. I'm still riding it with just the use of the heel shifter, that one is still tight and works fine. I'm off now to go pull this thing apart and figure it out. I'll update tomorrow.

What he said. In my experience, it's been the lever not the shaft.

Odds are it is the toe lever and not the shaft, however close inspection will verify. It's no big deal to replace either/both items ( being a 2006 I'd recommend both and be done with the job ) By your signature your scooter is a 2006 ?

Toe Lever ... #27 33895-82D SHIFT LEVER (chrome)

Shaft #23 ... 33709-82A SHAFT

Pinch Bolt #3 ... 3275 SCREW 5/16-18 X 3/4 socket hd. (Grade 8) ( get two )
