Turn the set screw with your finger tips. Use light pressure and when it stops you should be lightly touching.

I adjusted mine last night and I have a pretty good feel with my fingers but also never am really sure when the adjuster screw touches.
I noticed this when adjusting. When I turned the screw in, I could see primary oil just start to close up the gap on the outside of the discs. That's when I knew I was moving something. As mentioned, use your fingertips to thread it in.
3/4 turns back works best for me. If you want your lever closer to the bar, put some extra play in the cable adjuster. I like mine a little loose. My lever loosens up as the drivetrain warms up.
Took care of this Saturday. I used just my fingers and not a T Handle. I went back and forth tightening/loosening several times to get what I felt was initial contact.
Went out 3/4 turn, marked it with a Sharpie to make sure when I tightened it down, it didn't move.

i adjusted mine with the lever to close to the bars. worked fine till engine warmed up, then it was partially engaged with lever flat against bars. that was 3/4 turn. But all that is feel and I feel things differant than you. I like it farther away from bar to engage. much easier on the hand at stop light. quicker to shift thru the gears. the friction zone seems to be easier to operate. jmo

On "My" 3/4 turn... my friction zone starts just about an inch off the bar from the bend in the lever.
It was out a hair more before.
I agree, I'm of the school of pulling in the clutch at lights, stops, etc., and keeping it in gear. I also stop with left leg down only, right foot on the brake.
It's right where I like it now. I'm 100% certain I get full engagement and disengagement.
Yep, the trick is to use your fingertips and runit in and out several times. You will start feeling the exact point it touches the spring. Then it's just a matter of backing off the amount you like.
I'm running the Energy One kevlar +1 clutch with the heavy duty spring and 3/4 turn is pretty spot on for me.
