I guess this was a dumb question. Only asked because I can't seem to find anything that says one will fit that year/model. I know they will fit '09 and above.
Sorry, i failed to answer your question. I have not seen a 120R installed in a HD touring bike with external oil lines such as those present on the early twin cams up to 06. Maybe someone else has, i have not. Seen a bunch of S&S motors in those frames.
The 120 should fit 07 up in its present configuration
They will lfit 07 and up. The one exception is the 06 Dyna with the six speed. The 120's only bolt up to 6 speed.
I put a 120 in a 13 Street Bob and a 15 Freewheeler.
I choose the factory built 120's over a S&S as the dealer you buy it from puts it together. Last year on the Dyna forum a poster did a 124 build. It progressed with pictures until it was together. Then it was dyno'd and blew up. The guy still posted that the engine was going to be torn down and the cause identified. No more posts I suspect that the builder had a signed document that he was not responsible for what happens on the dyno and the buyer never got a running engine.
I have over 10K on the engine in the Freewheeler and 3K on the Dyna. They have performed faultlessly and with awesome performance. I know on bagger with over 30K on a 120.
If it goes into a throttle by wire bike you choose between a 58 or 64 mm intake manifold. If it goes into a cable throttle then there is a choice of a 58 or 62 mm intake. Either way then you select a type breather and size of injector.
S&S 124 crate motor - built at the S&S factory - with at least a one year warranty - and if you ever dicide to go bigger the S&S platform can take it -- best crate motor you can buy -
