I am in the process of changing my passing lamps from LED units to standard halogen. The existing TruckLite units have never fitted that well, and the previous owner did some bodging with tape etc.
Having now fitted the halogen units they are crazy loose in the housing once the ring is back on. Looking at the parts fiche the 2002 doesn't show any "nest rings" but looking at an instruction manual for the auxiliary lamp kit is says that for 2002 onward 68331-02 are needed.
So my assumption is that these rings I need to buy, and the previous owner ditched them when fitting the TruckLites!
My 04 had sealed beams with these God-awfull galvanized steel retainer rings that held the bulbs in tight.( looked totally like ****, could not believe the moco would do that ) I just bought newer style HD reflector/ bulb holders from another member here. They fit great. No need for the shitty steel rings. Are yours HD parts ?
Yeah, they're HD parts, the "HDI Fog Lamp Halogen" units. The rings look like they sit between the light unit and the bowl which hopefully take up the slack I have now. The bike is a 2002.
When I bought new trim rings it actually came with a strip of stick-on foam like weather stripping , seemed a little chinsy but it works to keep the lights snug in the housing.
I just replaced mine (like new) with french look rings, these do have the rubber strip that hold the lamp in place. Make me an offer and I can ship them 2 you probably a lot cheaper than buying new.
EDIT: Never mind, I see you are across the pond, shipping would probably be expensive...
