Default Seat loose after backrest removal

Have a 2000 FLHTCUI, removed the drivers backrest. Found out this holds the seat down on the frame. Any other option available to hold the seat down other than the backrest?

Not to question you, but are you sure? I had a 2000 Electra Glide that came with a backrest. I sold the backrest with no problem. The seat was secured by a tab (tang) in the front and a screw in the back.

Hey MCM,

I've got a 2005 FLHRSI and the only thing that holds my seat in place is the metal tab on the seat that slides into the slot up front and the big phillips head screw at the rear fender.

The drivers backrest sits in a bracket that is attached to the frame but in no way attaches to the seat.

Do you have a picture that shows your driver backrest bracket? I'm curious how much different it is than the one I have.

I have the tang in the front, but there was no screw in the back. Did not mention that i also removed the tour pack trunk as well. But the whole two up seat was held in place by the backrest and front tang. Craziest thing i ever saw. I will post pics later tonight when i get home. Thank you for the input!

There should be a bolt in the back. if not is there just a hole, or a threaded grommet thing (whatever you call it)? You may have lost the bolt and pass through mounting threads if there is just a hole there.

Looks like you are missing screw. In this case the backrest would appear to be providing a bit of hold down on the seat...
