I was having issues such as your and was thinking comp, etc..I knew my battery was good. I use a micro tuner from fuel moto, contacted them for an updated map..voila!!! Seriously, mine starts right up now, problem fixed...Good Luck!!!
When warm I just hit the starter right away, to start. As stated, When cold she fires right up everytime, just when warmed up if I wait for the 2-5 second fuel prime it will take a few rev's,once it even back fired.....but with the quick start it's been fine.
Through experience with my 2005 EFI and 2013 EFI that when the engine is hot, been run to operating temperature, it takes a few more revolutions on the engine before it will start. When these engines are overnight cold they fire right up. I am curious though about the fuel filter replacement. The scheduled maint. interval chart shows it being changed at 25K? My 2013 shows it to be changed at 100K.
my 2010 had 25k intervals for replacing fuel filter. my wife's 2012, says 100k intervals. the really weird part is that it is the same filter. none of the parts changed, so apparently, every 25k was overkill?
My 05 RKC was running just fine, but "just because", I decided to change the plugs.
The old ones were fine, screaming eagle I think, but I just wanted new ones.
Installed a set of stock HD plugs for my bike, and right off the bat, it began to start hard.
The bike used to fire up almost instantly, now it turns over for 5-10 seconds before it fires.
I changed nothing else but the plugs, so maybe the stockers aren't the best ones to use?
I don't know, anyone else notice this?

I saw a lot of guys saying what you are saying about hard starts when the engine is hot. My experience was that it was happening first thing in the morning with a cold engine and also when the engine was hot. There was really no rhyme or reason to it.
I just hit 25K miles. I'll have to look at the maintenance schedule, but off the top of my head I thought it was due at 25K. I took it to the dealer and told them to do 25K service and it was done. I'm not saying that the dealer wouldn't gouge me. Thats one reason I'm relying on a private mechanic and am not going to the dealer anymore. Thanks for your reply!
Ya might wanna clean your IAC too.....Idle Air Controler.......you can do it your self .....take off air cleaner.......stuff a shop rag in the throttle body......look inside the throttle body at 12 oclock......theres an opening there.........there is a plunger in there that gets stuck from sucking in oil from the head breathers.........with ign ON........use a cleaner with one of those straws attached..........spray in and around as much as possible while toggling the kill switch back and forth.......you'll be surprised how how chit comes out........happened to me.....now mine is GREAT starting!!
