Default Pennsylvania pothole - bent rim and damaged tire.

Day 10 of our 12 day road trip. Coming back from Vermont, New Hmpshire, Maine and elsewhere, on our way back to the Chicago area by Monday, about 2,500 miles so far. This morning we left New Milford PA at 8:30 and headed down Rt. 11. About 9:30 the road was pretty bad and we hit a bad pothole. You can see the damage. Called our roadside assistance through Dairyland Insurabce, which in the past had been very good, this time after two hours they still had not found a service. A local helped us with his trailer and took us to Tommel HD 20 miles away. The had a take off wheel and a new tire. They had us in and out in an hour. But with the wait for a tow and the help from the local it took about 4 hours. Can't say enough nice things about the local (thank goodness we stopped right in front of his shop) and good things about Rommel HD

In some states if a pothole has been called in but not fixed and damage has occurred than it's on the state. What about your insurance?

Damn, to bad, seeing you had a camera, did you take a pic of that pothole you took on. Good for the locals, I try to help if I see someone in need in my area.

Yeah I live in Eastern Ohio and ride into PA alot and those potholes will eat you up. We always give more clear distance and point them out if in a group but sometimes you can't avoid them. Id say a 4 hour turnaround time was pretty good. Could have been 2 days if it was a Saturday afternoon and had to wait till Monday morning. Glad you didn't go down. That can really put a twist in you plans.
I have a few friends on trikes and they hit just about all the freekin potholes. You don't know how good your roads are till you spend some time riding the pothole zone of the rust belt.

on a side note , the rides on these bikes are amazing at absorbing the regular poor excuse for paving on some roads.

Glad you didn't go down, but the roads in mchigan are the same way. That's why I got the tire and wheel coverage. Paid for itself already in tire replacement.

Damn, dude! Glad you're alright. My dad had a similar incident but he went down. Luckily just bruised body and ego. Gotta watch the condition of the roads at all times when riding. I've had my fair share of close calls, too.
