I have 2001 damaged speedo, can I replace it with 2009 speedo?
The plug at the back is different but maybe with some hard wiring and fixing.. will it work?
if it will not work, will I be able to order these old speedos? My dealer says Harley doesn't make them anymore!
What exactly is wrong with the speedometer on your 2001 Ultra Electra Glide ?
The speedometers changed some time in 2004 or Newer to CAN bus so adapting a 2009 back to a 2001 would probably be inefficient.
Also the odometer miles are store in the speedometer for your 2001 while newer speedometers have the mileage in the bike computer.
Then there is the problem of newer Can bus speedometers having a VIN number lock.
While it would be possible to install a similar year and model unit then there is the mileage issue.
So lets go back again, What is wrong with your speedometer?
