I just bought an 08 Road King and it's in miles. I wonder if I were to buy a metric speedo from another 08 Road King if it will be a plug and play or do I need to go to another option? I bought another but I think it's from a 2011 and it does nothing at all.
Thank's for any input from people that have far more experience than I. My first Harley and I love it.
Years ago, when I bought my Dyna, it had a moisture leak in the speedo that fogged it up frequently. I knew that down the road it would need a speedo. Well it finally went belly up and I had to buy another. I have always been told that you have to tell HD what the mileage on the bike is when ordered. That's what I did and it worked for me. Some of the newer guys, on this forum, say that the mileage number is kept in the ecm and all you have to do is install the new speedo and after about 20 minutes, the mileage will read correctly. That maybe true of the new canbus wiring system, I personally don't know but I would ask the service writer at the dealership how to replace my speedo, on my canbus bike, if it ever goes out. I don't think you can use a canbus speedo on a non canbus bike or use a non canbus speedo on a canbus bike. Stick to the type of speedo your bike was manufactured with.
I feel sure you can order a new 08 Road King speedo in kilometers and proper mileage...
