Ok, here is the deal. 07 Street Glide, Running great, has about 800 miles on it, but the damn engine light keeps coming on, then off, then on, then off, and there doesnt seem to be a setpattern to it.
Not a big deal since the bike is riding flawlessly, but that damn light is bugging the livin sh*t out me.
Im taking it in to the dealer to look at it, and im sure they will remedy the problem, they didnt think it was gonna be a big issue since the bike was running fine, but im just curious what the hell is causing that.
I'm having the same problem with my new FLHT. The collective wisdom on the forum is telling me that the light is blinking because the ECM is throwing a diagnostic code. Best to take it back to the dealer to have it checked out.
seen a post or 2 about this. Word is there was probably a diag code set which the dealer didn't clear so it probably is 'blinking' here and there letting you know. I'm with DelawareDon. Take it to the dealer have 'em check it and clear it.
I just purchased an 07 Ultra Classic. When riding it home it from the dealership, my engine light did the same. It come on and went off, primarily at higher speeds (over 60 MPH). I took the bike to my dealer the following day, and it turned out to be a loose spark plug wire on the rear cylinder. It might be just a loose spark plug wire. Check them to make sure they are snug on the plugs.
i can tell you by experiance that it has a code, mine was something as little as a skip fire in the front cylender which he told me was the most common. he said that something a little as a backfire can cause this code to pop up.. you can go here and see what the problem is http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/0405troublecodes.htm
the one thing i was told by many techs was if the light comes on and off your ok but if the light comes on and stays on shut it down and get it to the stealer to get it fixed.
