'Only a test ride to compare both' will give you the answers you are asking for...
Literally hundreds of opinions won't mean $hit unless you test ride both under same situations.....

I own a 14 SGS. Yesterday I demo'd a 17 road glide, street glide, and ultra ltd. Personally, I did not like the road glide. Too much air around the sides hitting your arms, gauges and fairing way out front, big air gaps around headlight module through fairing. I did like the height of the bars on the RG and although the bars feel lighter, the steering and handling does not seem as responsive as the SG and Ltd. I did like the new 107 engine and everything I had read is true. Much smoother at idle, more torque, very responsive, and quieter valve train. Shifting also quieter.

Loved the feeling. Speedo a little far down but I don't use it that much anyways. As far as the lighting thing goes. I counter steer when I ride so really the street glide light is not pointed into the corner either. Quite the opposite. the road glide should be closer than the street glide pointing the opposite way.
So how is it possible to ride a motorcycle without counter steering?

I had a street glide for 8 happy years. Stopped by the dealer last November and decided to test ride the 16 SG. Before I did that, a fellow customer recommended I test the RG, and I did.

Wow! Loved it and never thought I would. Since many improvements had been made I thought I'd better try out the SG to to get a better comparison. Only took a few miles to decide. Suddenly, I felt a little too close to the fairing, a little cramped and felt the RG was better handling, which to me seemed counter-intuitive at first. Got the road glide special and love it.

I changed the silly stock wind shield for Freedom shield and put in an amp and speakers. Everything is good now. Just for reference, I'm 5'10 and about 175 pounds. Wife is medium build. We both like it a lot.

Got bout 10 k on it now. I'm on a trip with it right now and put 800 miles on it in 2 days, about half of it highway. Been through Death Valley and Nevada where strong winds blow across the desert. Stable as a rock, like it's on rails.

Nothing wrong with the SG, I loved mine, but I do like the road glide better.

People are always saying with a street glide you can see better when turning at night due to the headlight being on the forks. They must not be counter steering if that is the case.

Didn't get to take the RG through any twisties or hard turns at speed. Also didn't get to pass any trucks on interstate. The one I rode had a stage 1 on the 107 and was pretty strong.
