Default hand grips install help

I bought a new set today from the dealer and thought it was going to be a quick 15 minute install. I must be doing something wrong. I have installed 3 other sets on metric bikes and getting that little ball back in the hole was tough but this one was rough. I thought the ball was going to pop off the cable as I forced it over the hump and back into the hole. Whats the secret to the install and did I hurt anything by pulling on the cable. It is running fine. Just need to know I did not mess something up that I cant see.

You needed to loosen the throttle cables to make it easier..... Along with the ball there should have been some brass pins the ***** sit into then slide into the holes on the grips...

Thanks for the reply. I did put them back into the brass fittings but the adjustment was all the way in on the cable adjustment. Should have been installed so that I could go either way. thanks again

I did mine beforeI found this forum, or bought a manual. I got lucky that I didn't mess up the brake switch. I loosen the switch box, put the grip on, twisted the throttle open and closed to get the brass fittings back in, buttoned everything up. Almost 5k later, and no problems. Like I said, I was lucky.
