34 years on the Fire Dept as of March 15, 2007 - This is my last year. I really do believe in my signature line. I am finishing a 72 hour shift this morning and I put three guys in a body bag over the past 72 hours - NONE had anything to do with age... I try and enjoy life as it goes along - if we completly wait for retirment then we just may get cheated a little... Thanks for your years of service to our kids and now get out and enjoy the rest of your life - you have earned it...
Hey brother, compared to what you do, my 30 years were a walk in the park. Your last year - Get R Done!
Congratulations, Hack. Now that you are living on a fixed income, let me buy you lunch. I really like to help support the elderly [sm=icon_rofl.gif].
Seriously, PM me your cell phone number. I would like to buy you a round. 30 years in MCSD is quite the accomplishment. H-minus!!
Hey gator, thinks for the sentiments - elderly, I think not. I may not be able to do it as many times as I once did, but I can do it once as good as I ever did.
Good for you. I will be 35 in 13 days. retirement isn't even on the horizon for me. That is why I play the lottery. LOL. Have fun, and if you get bored in a year or two, get a little pt job. LOL Not that you are even thinking about it, but I bet it would be fun to be retired and work at a hd dealer, or at a home depot or something.
I hope you enjoy your retirement to the fullest. My father-in-law retired from the post office last year. Man, I am very envious. Would be awsome to just take off whenever you wanted. WOW, that must be why I work.!!
Papa, when I was 35 I wasn't thinking of it either, but it finally arrived. So will yours.
I'm not stopping totally. For a few years, at night, I've been teaching a couple of classes at Columbus Tech for students interested in a nursing career. I was an army medic and really enjoy teaching, at this level, in the college atmosphere. I'll pick up one more class in the day-time now that I'm retired. When I had my accident, I saw the need this country has for quality nurses and decided to do my small part. Besides, that is no way I could just do nothing after 30 years of humping it.
After 30 years of teaching science in a public high school, I'm finished. Retired on May 24th, 2007. Let the road trips begin!!!
Hack
Congrats and enjoy your retirement. I did it on March 2, 2007 after almost 43 years as a computer hardware tech. and I don't miss it at all. The only thing I miss are some of the people.
