Default Service Manual

Is anyone familiar with Clymer's version of the Service Manual for Touring bikes? Apparently it is 700 pages and sounds very comprehensive. I am leaning toward purchasing this at half the cost ($30 instead of $60) of what appears to be a more expensive and less comprehensive Harley Manual for my 2003 Road King Classic. If anyone knows the difference between the two or has the Clymer and thinks it's great let me know. I think I am going to pick one up.

Thanks in advance,

Frank

Hey Frank, I used to buy Clymer manuals for all of my dirt bikes and they were always very good. Let us know what you think when you pick this up. I don't think you can go wrong with having too many references. I'm just not sure if it is a good idea to use it as a replacement manual for the HD one. But who knows!

I looked at both the HD & Clymer side by side. In my opinion the HD is the way to go. Better pictures & more detailed steps.
You will save the cost with the first thing you do that you would have paid a dealer labor to do.

Ride Safe,

Mike

Check your public library, they always have the Clymers. I have never been impressed with them as they devote several pages to generic information about safety, tools, and tuning. They have been using that spark plug reading picture for about 39 years........
I have had 5 Harleys and have bought the service and parts manual for each one. If you buy online you can save 25% and the first time you use the books you have paid for them. I especially like the parts manual exploded views and with all the numbers you can order directly online and save 25% and no state tax.

I would go with the HD manual. If the Clymers mc manuals are anything like the auto manuals there is too much generic info.
