well its on and im leaving it on. does explain why my idle has sounded a little different at times. where i live, Mohave Valley, AZ, the temps get to 125 + in July and August. dont ride in that, but do ride when its 100 so the feature is nice.

Have mine off here in Houston and never an issue with overheating....Sitting in traffic @ 108....

Me too B-n-B, Woodlands area, runs like Chit when it's on when it engages and I don't like it. Never had an issue, even stuck in 45 traffic. Never saw much help in the frying leg department either.

I disabled mine on my Rushmore because it went on continually up here in the Pacific Northwest even when it wasn't really warm out.
Now is it my understanding that the company had a pretty good system before, now they moved the temp sensor point from taking a reading of the motor's actual temp, (proper method IMHO), now it takes a reading of outside, (ambient) temp and this it activates all the time like mine?

EITMS is a smart and good thing- removing heat by using the rear cylcnder to pump just air through the cylinder to cool the motor.
as mentioned earlier this only happens when temps reach a certain level at ZERO THROTTLE and essentially at a stand still-

remember the cadillac northstar ad- "will go for 50 miles without coolant" the northstar was programed to do similar when hot, turn 1/2 of the cylinders into air pumps to cool the block.

Here in AZ on my 09, it comes on once in a while- like if fully warmed and I am sitting at a light for any length of time on a hot day...it would never come on while riding,
And will increase the life of your motor, motor oil and your comfort

also, my own testing shows oil tank temps 25ş cooler with fairing lowers than without- tested on a 105ş ambient day

it's easier to keep it cooler longer than it is to cool it down once it reaches 'omg, it's fricken hot' temps. that's why they went from cylinder head temp of 285*, to outside ambient temp of 85*.

The purpose for the EITMS is for rider comfort not for keeping the engine from over heating.
