The monotubes are a big improvement over stock but not the end all of front ends. For the price I think that they are worth it if you don't have to pay too much for installations and preferably do it yourself. I run 1 clip in mine. I wouldn't want in any stiffer. The handling issue is simply less dive and better tracking in the corners.
I wonder if Harley will be offering the updated internals that are in the 2017 models. Might be worth a call to your dealer. They are a huge improvement over stock and yes better than the monotubes in my opinion.
Not sure what you are basing this on other than opinion. I don't see a remarkable difference in the 17 internals vs the 16 I had. And I sure as hell don't think the 17 internals are better than the monotubes I had in my Softail.
Bike is a 2011 Electra Glide Ultra Limited. Even if that was offered. I wouldn't go there. First the cost. I would guess would be over a 1K. And for that I would get the Ohlins. Most likely it is cost related. But IMO Harley takes a lot of shortcuts when it comes to parts. Having said that I have done a test ride on the 2017 and the ride is better than my model year. Tighter. Thanks
Just a thought. I'll be upgrading to the FKC-101 suspension this winter if funds allow. Right now things look good money wise but I also want cams. Looks like I'll be robbing the piggy bank hard if I do both.
I had monotubes installed on my last bike, a 07 CVO ultra. Was never totally satisfied with them. When I purchased my 14 ultra I had Legend AXEO front suspension installed. In my opinion, they are much better. You can adjust for your weight, come with a lifetime warranty. Price is between the top dollar offering and monotubes. Another plus, made in America.
Read as much as I could on these. (Legend AXEO). Can't find a bad review or experience on these anywhere a lot like the Ohlins. Found one post on the web were a guy was upset on how the box got there bought from a third party. Performance wise nothing but good responses. Thing I like the most is life time warranty. Ohlins and Progressive need to be rebuilt at certain intervals. 12 to 15K miles suggested. Adjusting for the weight is nice also. Found some for 700.00 with free shipping. This maybe my choice. Will most likely do the work myself. Have the off season to get it right. It's funny Progressive has the most negative reviews. Might be because the most people buy them because of the price point. And most people only say something when they are pissed or fired up. Thanks for all the responses. Will post when I can ride on the good or bad.
