A little more boost, but the best thing from my perspective was more air and a richer fuel mixture. Doesn't get as good of mileage, but runs so much cooler. Also replaced the headers with true duals so no more cat. Much better.
I have a 2012 Road King w/decated head pipe, Cobra performance air intake & Rinehart 4" slip-ons. If you are looking to save a few bucks and sacrifice some fractional horsepower loses when comparing to mapped download horsepower gains. Look into Cobra power pro Fi2000 CVT, no mapping, adjusts as you ride. Makes adjustments at speed of light adjusts air fuel automatically from sea level to 3,280 ft. a mile high in the Rockies, it gets better. " No dyno fees" $$$ Best plug & play system you can Buy IMHO.
2012 RK, Rinehart slipons, De-catted stock pipes, SE ac and Fuelmoto Micro EFI tuner with ability to add/change maps. (fuelmoto put two maps in it for me)
This was about the most cost effective way to improve on what I had.....
I purchased the bike with the Rinehart slip-ons and SE AC with XIED's. Removed the XIED's and added the tuner. Just today I added the de-catted head pipes while I was changing the rear tire out. I just finished and those Rineharts really sound good now! Very pleased! Can't wait for warmer weather....
OP, you sound like me. I also have a 2013 RK. After riding stock for a year I put on a set of SE Street Performance I bought on Craig's List. Liked the mufflers but wanted to go to a stage 1. Agonized over what to do about fuel management but was able to buy a used PCV off Craig's List for a great price so I went for it. I then bought a Pro Billet stage 1 a/c from Fuel Moto and they supplied me with a map for the PCV for my setup. Then I agonized a bit about what to do CAT in the head pipe. I did not like the heat. Thought about removing the CAT or buying a pipe with the CAT already removed. Ended up buying a used FM stainless steel pipe with 18mm O2 sensors along wth a set of FM 4" Dyno Tuned mufflers from a HD forum member at a decent price. FM then supplied me with a map for that set up and I am very happy with he sound and performance. Now I have a chance to buy a used autotune module for the PVC off Craig's List, again for a great price. Do I need it, not really but since I already have the 18mm O2 bungs in the head pipe I am going to go for it. By the way I did all my own installation. Not hard to do if you have the time and a manual.
