Default Tank removal

So after the B.S of removing my RK gas tank. Is there a easy disconnect aftermarket cross over line?

Yep. Can't remember the name of the manufacturer but a couple available on JP Cycles, Dennis Kirk etc. About $75 if I remember correctly.

step one, figure out where you are going to put the tank down when removed.

siphon all the gas you can.

remove gas line and bolts

put bike on jiffy- leaning bike to left

loosen clamp on RIGHT side crossover.

get a catch can, pull off 8" hose and direct fuel into catch can, use your finger (gloved) to control flow.

the right side spigot shouldn;t drip, but if it does get your finger over it.

in the palm of your hand have a 1/4" bolt...jam the bolt into the 8" hose as a stopper.

remove tank, put the hose back on spigot and tighten clamp unless draining the tank for service.

yes I like the 6 gallon better- but I gots older bikes too!

If you don't decide to go with any of the aftermarket quick disconnects and don't mind the $1 max for another piece of stock fuel line then I found a real quick and easy way to go about it. Get two forceps, or small locking pliers, and pinch the crossover in two spots close together. The cut the line in between the forceps. You'll get a 1/4-1/2 oz of fuel that can be easily contained with a shop rag. Then take your tank over to what ever you are draining it into and release on of the forceps at a time and drain it. When you're all done put the tank back in place, replace the piece of fuel line and refill it.

Replace the oem crimp connectors with spring type connectors. It makes future removal much easier.

You can aim the disconnected fuel hose into a catch can or whatever you're using. Cover the tank stub with your finger. It takes a little time because the line is small, but it's not a hard thing to do. Do it to both sides.

You can buy plastic inline connectors from Motion Pro or similar knockoffs for $10-20 on ebay. Your call as to whether they are acceptable to you or not. These do not have check valves. When the connector is open, gasoline will pour out from both ends.
