Default Heated seat worth it?

I am going to be ordering a new solo seat here in the next couple of weeks and wondering if I should get the heated seat. Don't get me wrong not a huge fan of riding in the cold but the drive to work in the Spring/Fall can get a bit cold in the mornings..Do they help that much? Are they a pain to install? Any help would be appreciated.

I have heated seats in my car and they are nice, but my hands get cold... I have heated grips on my bike and my butt doesn't get cold... I suggest spending money on heated grips before seat...

I've never had a heated bike seat, but one hot summer we were riding with friends, who have a BMW tourer. The rider told us later that he suddenly noticed a warning light that he couldn't identify. He eventually worked out that his wife had switched on her heated seat. It was 90 degrees at the time and we had just stopped for ice-creams all round! So don't prejudge when you might like a heated seat.....

I would have thought you would have know if your butt was getting cold to need one or not before asking?

When I was getting my seat customized, I asked the same question. The response was that the only thing that didn't get cold on a ride was his buttocks. Seemed reasonable to me.

I second the heated grips.. If your hands are warm, your whole body seems warmer. I have never had a heated seat. I will never have a heated seat and I will never have a bike without heated grips again.

I ride year-round and me thinks heated grips would be the better option if you don't already have one. Your butt is usually layered up pretty good, more so than your hands.

I live and ride in Alaska and I never had a heated seat . When I bought my new Road king my wife wanted a heated seat for our long rides .
I drug my feet for a bit but gave in .
All I can say is why did i wait so long to get one .
I absolutely love this seat .

Enjoy

I have the heated hammock seat and I also have a heated seat on my snowmobile.

Both the bike and sled warm my belly, when they are on, which seams weird because my truck heated seat only heats my butt.

I love all the heated seats
