Weather was nice today went to start the bike, click click click. I always keep it on a battery tender. Looked up my receipt and I purchased it 12/7/12 so it lasted 4 years. This battery was an Interstate which replaced my original battery that only lasted 2 years 3 months. Can anyone tell me if there is anything better than the Interstate ? Also where is a good place to order online with free shipping ? My dealer quoted $161.00 plus tax for another Interstate battery. Thanks for your comments.
Best price i found on Deka's (also mfg's Bigcrank) ETX30L/400cca maint free fact act AGM battery for only $97.99 to your door from Techbattery online vs $109.99 from batterymart which is an approx $12 savings.
There's also Yuasa's top of the line latest gen maint free fact act AGM battery (GYZ32HL) with 500cca's for $132 to your door from Phatperf online too.
At the recommendation of my Indy, I put in a Drag Specialties battery. Four months later I left the bike at work with the headlight on....for two days. It took me a while to jump it off but finally got it started and road home. Later that week I got three different high voltage codes. Voltage regulator failed. Replaced the voltage regulator and now the stator has apparently failed. Low voltage codes. I had the battery tested and after all that, it's putting out more cranking amps then the label says it's rated for. Not bad after being completely drained to nothing.
I'll probably find out later that it's made by Deka but I'm not a Deka fan. My company is an OEM and uses Deka batteries on new equipment. If my company buys them it means they are the cheapest battery they can buy We replace a lot of them.
I think what you will find is that jumping your battery stressed your charging system and blowed up you VR and stator.
any one bad part (battery, vr, stator) can take out the other 2
the load placed on the charging system by a duff battery, along with running the bike and lights, can exceed the capabilities of the charging system...leading to failure.
a dead $100 battery problem can become a $600 charging system problem...
if the charging system system changer is stupid and uses air impact tools, then the damage will be repeated within a few weeks.
seen that a few times

I decided to go local for easier warranty replacement, if needed.
Mine is a Duracell, 2 year warranty, walk in , walk out, at Batteries Plus.
I don't like the idea of excessive downtime if a warranty issue happens.
Been a couple of years, so far so good. Factory original lasted 4 years.
Is the Yuasa GYZ 32 HL a sealed battery ? About 10 years ago I had a non sealed car battery leak acid and cause a lot of damage. I make it a point since that incident to only buy sealed batteries. If the Yuasa is sealed and the post design is good I will probably order that battery for $132.00. Can anyone confirm my two questions ? Thanks
