Default 2010 and Later Primary Chain Adjuster

I'm getting ready to change the Compensator on my 2010 Street Glide and I'm torn on whether to leave the Auto chain tensioner or replace it with A Baker Attitude Adjuster. I've read all the criteria on the stock ratcheting too tight on earlier versions but also read that 2010 up was modified to prevent this? I also read that manual adjusters are noisy because they have no spring tension to take up for the whipping action in the later primary?

Looking for some feed back? Thanks

I want to change the compensator as a matter of maintenance. I'm not having any trouble with it. No banging on start up or strange noise. However, I do get a little jerky low speed feel once in a while and that's with the RPM kept up...also a little vibration that feels a lot like primary vibe. I'm riding this bike as my primary now since I sold my Dyna.

'Have >52k miles on the OE Tensioner in the '09, No direct / related issues, it's always in proper adjustment when checked...

I'm not spending $$$ to fix something that Ain't broke...

To avoid any possible "overtightening issues" with the OE, do not employ any significant engine braking until the drivetrain is up to operating temp.

I'd open the primary- look at it, check the tensioner for worn parts, and then wipe out any schmutz with a rag.
close it and refill with new fluid of same type.

If you discover wear or a problem fix it, but...

Got snow? My understanding was the older manual ones, turned out to be better, than the newer self- ratcheting ones, that tighten the chain, needlessly! I'd be going with Hayden or Baker? Save yourself a motor sprocket or tranny seal? Seems you read all the info, but, can't pull the trigger? Well, you've got a long winter !

Get the Baker unit you will not regret it 30,000 miles on my Baker attitude adjuster and only had to adjust it once at the 20,000 mile mark. Money well spent.

Do you notice any extra or unusual vibration since there's not constant upward tension on the manual adjuster? Thanks....

The worse thing I ever did was change out my OEM comp on my 2010, it was the last good year before they started with the new design. Now I have a baker comp and it seems to be working smooth.

I still have my OEM Auto chain tensioner, I did try an after market style but it had too much chain slap so I put the OEM back on.

I haven't had any issue with my 2010 ACT but I believe it's still the bad design and 2011 was the first year of the "better" design.
