Newbie have ??????
I have been lurking around fora while looking for some info on my new bike and have found some good stuff. First Ill give you a little back ground so you can understand where Im comming from. Over the last winter I baught a 2000 FLHT standard and took it down to the frame and engine for a complete style change. When Iwas done I had a real nice looking bike that brought allot of positive comments. I have never put a wrench to a Harley befor this so I was happy with the results! I rode the bike for a couple of months and really enjoyed it. I bought the bike from an insurance auction and it had some front end dammage so I do not know the real history of the perfomance mods it had. I belive from talking to friends and looking at other bikes it had an oversized cam. It also had thunder header exhaust as well as a larger air cleaner. The local bike shop told me it had larger jets installed in the carb after I had them tune it for me. So I really liked the power of this bike!
So this brings me to my question..... A friend of mine started hounding me to sell this bike to him and after several offers I gave in and the day I dropped it of for him I started looking at a new ride. I ended up buying a 2005 Roadking Classic that had allot of extra chrome and a stage 1 SE installed. Overall I like the bike and have had some funwith it but I am not happy with the power.
(1) What for sure does a stage 1 SE upgrade consist of?
(2) What is the next best move for more HP and Tourqe?
(3) What is the best seat option for a guy that is 6'2" 250lb to move me back onthe bike around two inches? 2up seat.
(4) What is the side effects of lowering the back of the bike 1.5 inches to give it a little meaner look?
I know these questions are a little subjective to each persons oppinion but I am looking for several ideas (good and bad) So I want to say thank you in advance for any input you can give me.
Keep the rubber side down

1. You pretty much have a Stage I in the bike now, should your report be accurate. It's new jets in the carb, freer flowing air cleaner, and new pipes. In theory, you've also added a new cam which is a step beyond the Stage I.
2. Well, how much money do you have? I'd recommend you have the bike dynoed to see where your at now with power and torque. Because you've got a carb on the bike, you've got a lot of great options available. You can move to a 95" big bore kit, either from Harley or the aftermarket. You can bore and stroke the engine to 103", again Harley or the aftermarket has several available options. The reason for the dyno is to see how effective the cam is. That's where you'll get "specialty" results. Do you want low end torque? Where do you want your peak horsepower to be on the powerband? What do you intend to do with the bike, is it for "around town" or are you looking for distance touring? I'd recommend moving to the 95" kit from Harley and confirming that your air cleaner/pipes/cams/jets will maximize the torque and horsepower you need at a relatively affordable price.
3. Wow. Harley's stock seats are a nightmare, aren't they. Mustang, I think may have something that will do the trick. Corbin seats tend to lower you on the bike, in my experience. Harley just came out with a "tallboy" seat which is supposed to do this, but Harley seats can be less than excellent in the comfort department. You and I have almost identical measurements, and I'm comfortable in the stock "ComfortStitch" seat on my Ultra (a first for my Harley experience). I'm not sure if it's the same seat you've got, but I'll bet it's similar. Though, I do think it keeps me a bit too low on the bike.
4. Well, lowering the back screws with the geometry a bit. I'm not sure what the "real world" result would be, but you might want to investigate lower the front and the back. What you really lose is a lot of rear suspension. In other words, your ride will be stiffer. If you don't mind much shorter shock travel, go for it. I would say that there are ways to add to the bags and rear fender that, though more expensive, look like you lowered the bike without losing the suspension.
Sounds like you've got a lot to work with, which is great.

Hound Dog 1, He bought a Road King Classic so it is Fuel injected it's not carbureted, his old bike was. Also I don't beleave the SE stage 1 gives you a cam upgrade. Just Air/Breather kit, Jets or down load. Then your choice of exhaust.
Yes thatis correct I Have the 2005 now with EFI... I gave the specs on the bike I had sold to give an idea of the power I am looking for. So I do not have a carb now. I want to know what the next best step for this new RK will be for power increase?
Thank you!
Also as Im sure everyone else I want to spend nothing and have everyting!!

That's funny. Well I'm sure you will get all kinds of different opinions on performance packages. But if it was me and I if I knew 3 years ago what I know now I would give Doug Coffey a call at www.head-quarters.com and tell him what you havenowand tell him what you are wanting and he will sell you the parts. You can make your new Bike walk away from your old one with a Head quarters kit and it will be just as reliable as a stock HD if not better. Like I said I wish I'd heard about him 3 years ago and not 6 months ago, or I'd have his kit. Right now I'm just running his Cams. I wish I had his heads also. Good luck....
