Default Are the mods and tuners worth the price?

I have a 06 Ultra Classic which I bought new. I added the Big Sucker air cleaner, Vance and Hines slip ons, also added SE 203 cams and A Power Commander tuner. I had the bike dyne tuned as well. Yes the bike runs well enough but is it a significant gain? I don't think so at all.
I plan on purchasing a new Electra glide next year and I think this time I will just leave it alone and not spend a lot of money to gain very little in performance and have to worry about dyno tunes, exhaust popping and an exhaust smell that will knock you unconscious at idle.
What say all of you?

My 17 FLTRU was the first bike I've ever done more than a stage 1. My stage 2 is amazing. I went with the WM8-22X cam, Power vision, FM Head pipe and slip ons. The difference in my butt dyno is noticable and i'll soon have the official dyno sheet.

I think the difference is finding the stage 2 that fits your riding style. I spent a lot of time talking to folks and working with FuelMoto to find the cam that put the power/torque where I want it for my riding style. I've never been impressed with the SE cams. Perhaps your cam/performance choices weren't the best fit for your riding style?

Alternatively, if you're happy with a stock bike, leave it alone.

almost everyone does a simple stage one. Ive done it on every bike Ive owned. I have never done anything more as I dont want to pay for stage 2 work nor do I want to have to decide on which cam to use, and all the other endless possibilities of parts upgrade to handle extra power. To me it just ends up being a can of worms but thats just me. Id prefer to have a better sound system.

Ride the bike for a while, and if you're happy with the performance, leave it be and spend the money on something more important- Booze, Cigars, loose women, bacon...................

I did the performance increasing stuff on motorcycles for years, used to get to a point where it always needed just a little bit more of this or that. Got tired of screwing around with it and figured out all that money spent would go a long way towards tires, travel, motels, and camping. Sure makes life a lot easier.

Just a FYI from another site about the Powertrain Warranty; if you do not use a Harley Specific Tuner:

Good luck with the no mod thing. For me it’s like a infectious decease, one thing leads to another. Like Ron White said, “I had the right to remain silent, but I didn’t have the ability.”
