you could get a late model ( 05+) reflector that uses the same H4 bulb like you have now- the optics are very good.( 68342-05)
you could get a dual halogen ( 67700062) and do a little wiring work- optics, light output and beam control very good.
- these both show up on the classifieds
you could get online HID kits ( your radio may not work anymore)
or "led" kits which in many cases throw gobs of uncontrolled light with hotspots, glare shadows etc. these capsules fit in your reflector
or buy full on LEDs from HD, JWSpeaker, or trucklite
I think these all make for a lack of visibility in traffic.
I use the Dual halogen on my 09. the stock reflector from the 09 went in my 74 blazer (along with another I bought ) another late model reflector is in my '53.
all the FL bikes since 1949 use a 7" headlight and are physically interchangeable- may need some wiring changes

socalmotogear has a nice hid kit u can get it with led passing lamp bulbs with the same color temp as the hid, ad a hella e-code headlight bucket for about 40$ it tightens up the headlight been.
I had a 07 Road King Custom, and did lots of riding in the dark, so I added the Dual Bulb Halogen headlamp to the RK.
That made a big differences, after a few adjustments, for my ride to work at 5AM in the mornings.

You need to wire in a relay. Here's a post I made about it.
