Default Bugs!

As I now own my first touring bike, gotta ask - what do you all do about bugs in the spring? I had a windshield on my dyna, but it was a lot taller than the stock on this ultra. I've already been pegged a few times and it's only February. I like riding with a skull cap, but do I need to be looking at a full face? Or embrace the pain? Where I ride, there are a lot of bugs and they're pretty big.

Get a properly sized windshield. I rarely get hit with any bugs.

I'm running a ~9" with recurve from long ride shields and it's tall enough for me (6'3") and the old lady so neither of us get any direct wind. It's all dependent on you and your setup though. LRS has good guide lines for selecting the proper shield.

Ah... didn't realize I could make that taller... thanks! Do you know what size stock is?? I feel like an idiot now for asking this original question.

Ok... follow up question - what windshield? I'm looking Klock Werks Flare Windshield. I usually like after market vs Harley for basic parts.

I ride a Road King but run a 20" Rifle shield. A grasshopper to the nose hurts. I don't mind looking through the shield. You look through a cars windshield so why not a bike? Others will disagree but it's all personal preference or trying to look cool.

I have no issues with windshields. Just trying to figure out the best windshield for a 2017 ultra limited.

6.5" Memphis Shades spoiler. As you can see it takes it's fair share of hits.

I am 5'11" on my 08 the stock windshield top edge was exactly eye level so I was either trying to stretch over it or slouch down to look under the edge. My LRS is 9 I think with a recurve at the top. Go to their site they have good instruction for measuring.

NOte, the recurve directs the air over my head allowing me to look over the top of the shield which I prefer. This keeps most bugs off me. There are occassional ones that get through. It does not help for rain.
