Default Cam upgrade

I'm thinking of doing a cam upgrade on my 14 Ultra Classic.

what would be a good cam for good torque and hp?

I already have a stage 1 setup with the V&H header and breather and pipes. As well as a Screaming Eagle tuner.

im thinking of dumping the tuner for a TTS or FP3 or maybe even the Thundermax.

a local shop has quoted me 1300 for their setup and a second shop was doing the oil pump as well and going to be 2500. Seems a bit high but not sure what everyone else is paying.

thanks!

depends on where you wand the power to come on. Early on on the Rev range Andrew's 48 or woods 222. Mid range wise Andrew's 57, woods 555 or TTS 100. Higher RPMS is the land of head work.

Tuner wise I would go with the power vision if you don't have an indy with the ability to tune the old SE units. Most shops I have talked to use the vision these days.

Doesn't the '14 already have an upgraded cam? Isn't the next step head work?

I'll spare everyone the repetitive typing since this question has been answered 100 million times. Nonetheless, I'm sure there will be 80 more posts after this one, saying the exact same things in the posts that are in the result of this simple query.

Looking at at the Andrews 57's at the moment. What kind of money should the basic cam upgrade run?

I just did the Andrews 57H cams in my 12 Ultra. It woke the 103 up and she runs like a scalded dog! My local dealer billed me $525. I supplied the cams, they supplied the labor/gaskets/cam bearings/ adjustable pushrods. If you don't tell them to go with the adjustable pushrods, much more labor. It was 4 hours labor plus parts.......Thunder Creek in Chattanooga.
You can buy the cams on Amazon right now for $212.91

Now, should you want to go direct drive, that is another matter altogether. My local wrench said no need. Besides, most crank shafts have too much runout to get it done without flywheel/crank coming out and getting turned.

The dealer did did your work and let you bring in your own cams? Wow nice dealer. I got 2 quotes from food shops here locally but they are 1300 & 2500 depending on changing the oil pump. Might have to shop around some more I guess.
