Default 3 1/2 or 4 inch mufflers???

I'm looking for some Rinehart mufflers for my 2003 FLHRCI. The bike is stock engine and pipes.
The stock mufflers are 3 1/2".
I presently have 4" inch Vance and Hines.
Is there an advantage to either 3.5" or 4"?
Performance?
Will the sounds be different on the new RineHarts? 3.5"vs4"
The 4"inch look nice because they are bigger.
Should I be aware of something here?
Thanks.

I've had both. The 4's seem to have a deeper tone. I like the sound better than the 3.5's

I think the larger diameter pipes sound better. Just my opinion.

I have 4" RCX with 2.5 baffles and I love the sound!

the diameter of the area where the gasses flow, such as a baffled core, is what counts- how the gasses flow, how fast ( smaller is faster!) how long it holds it's heat.

outer diameters are often a visual effect and not really related to the inner workings

I've had both - the 4" have a deeper sound - the bigger can resonates lower frequencies.

I can see how this applies to performance but sound is a different story. My friend has a RGS, same as me, only a '15 instead of a '16. Same exact Rinehart Xtreme true duals on both. His has the 3.5" mufflers, I went with the 4", but both come with the same 2.25" baffle inside. Mine had a deeper tone than his just by having the slightly larger muffler.

Then, I went to the 2.5" baffle and it became louder but also went a little more deep as well. I think the 4" mufflers with the 2.5" baffles sound great!

In my testing, I also ran the pipes in the driveway with no baffle just to see how loud it would be, and let me tell you what, it sounded like a couple of pro-mod chainsaws fighting their way out of a steel drum. I was amazed lol.

Well how could someone call a 3.5" a "Street Cannon"?...you gotta have at least a 4" to be considered a Cannon

i ihad 4" rcx. i liked the sound. bought a set of 4.5" rcx. LOVED the sound. performance is about the same after getting a tuner. unless you're going to the drags, get the sound you like most. won't be a giant difference.

Ok it's all good info. I have friends with rinehart and they sound awesome. Right now I'm running the Vance and Hines they rumble but I don't think they are in the same class as the rinehart.
