1998 UltraClassic, fuse for brake light / cruise control blows when turning ignition on. Disconnected wiring harness to rear light assembly still pops fuse, disconnected rear brake light switch still pops fuse. HELP, Please.
Pull out the brake relay and try one more time. Fuse pops, short in control circuit, either from front brake lever or rear brake switch. Fuse doesn't pop, short is between the brake relay and the back of the bike.
Have you changed handle grips or otherwise fiddled with the front brake switch box and wires. Putting that all back together is usually when a wire gets pinched causing a short in the circuit that would trigger the brake relay.
Change handle grips in 2006 brake light still work until recently. Had her in shop in 2015 for some work brake light still worked until recently. Disconnected wiring harness to rear and rear brake light switch still pops fuse. Will try your suggestion. will try over the weekend. Thank you for your advise.

Reason: incomplete sentence.
I didn't notice brake/CRUISE CONTROL in your original post. Since turning on the ignition , not activating the front or rear brake, blows the fuse I am suspicious of a cruise circuit short because it has power available to the switch any time the ignition is on. Without a manual or someone with a manual for the same bike, this may get difficult.
That fuse send power out on a Orange/Violet stripe wire. It goes to the stop lamp relay.
It also goes to the interconnect harness and feeds the Cruise dash panel switch. It also goes to the Ultra Overlay harness for the Throttle Roll Off switch & cruise control module. It also goes to the console pod assembly.
