Default front brake

went for a ride yesterday all of sudden NO front brake, brake lever bottomed out . got home shut off bike, Walla front brake works again. Started bike this am brake works fine. HELP what's up with the brake!

Year and model would help. Does this bike have ABS?

Done any work to the brakes recently? Sounds like air in the lines. If it was a total leakout they wouldn't come back.

Low fluid in the master cylinder or bad o ring on the plunger in the master cylinder. Rebuild it.

and Joe this can change with temperature- if you have water in the brake fluid, it will expand and contract with temps and also freeze- the ice can cut or push aside rubber seals ( no pressure on lever) or clog lines ( too much pressure on lever).

as above a master cylinder rebuild is in order, don't be surprised if the calipers need rebuild/reseal
also the brakes lines could be crap

won't argue it's certainly a possibility, but there are others. Like worn and cocking pads, sticking caliper piston, etc.

The way I understood it his lever went down to the grip.
I'd flush it and go with DOT5 too.
