Extra $100 but worth it to get it right.

I was able to to get the 14’s to fit with stock cables on my 2019 RKS by rerouting them slightly. I did not need to disconnect them to do this. You will need wire extensions (6” or 8” worked for me), but those are easy plug and play. I did have to de-pin one connector to the throttle grip to fit through the bars but the rest all went pretty easily.

Looking to get opinions on whether this is normal. Recently changed out my stock head pipe & mufflers to Fuel Moto stainless 2/1/2 head pipe with Jackpot RTX 4.5 slip ons. I notice after washing the bike that I'm getting water discharge from the left side muffler. It's leaving the end cap of the muffler with dried rusty looking water marks after the first ride. Normally after washing I start the bike up, let it idle for a minute or two, give it a couple of revs & into the garage. Come out sometime later to go ride, start the bike let it warm up & hit the road. When I make a stop & look at the the end of the mufflers the left side has dried rusty water marks. Easy enough to wipe off. Here's where it gets interesting. After the first time noticing this, the next wash I use 2" wide painters tape & cover the air filter element. Still get the rust water after the next ride. This last wash I cover the air filter & the openings on both mufflers. Same thing, after the 1st ride, dried rust water on the end cap of the left side muffler. I have no decel pop when riding & no exhuast leak that I can tell. I do rinse the bike several times while washing so as to keep it wet until I'm finished. I use a gas powered leaf blower to throughly dry the bike. Then remove the tape from the air filter & mufflers, start, let idle, rev & put away. I never noticed this with the stock exhuast. What say you? Are any of you noticing something similar? 2021 RKS 114.

Some thoughts...while it is possible that water from washing is getting into your new mufflers, bare in mind that internal combustion engines produce water as a byproduct of the combustion process...about at a 1:1 rate with the quantity of fuel consumed. This water production is usually not noticed because it collects in your exhaust system/mufflers/etc. and is vaporized as the exhaust reaches operating temperature. Obviously, it can take some time for various exhaust systems to reach a high enough temp change liquid to vapor. You'll often see your car's exhaust spitting water soon after it's started. One of the reasons that maintenance requirements are time, as well as mileage, based is because if you don't get the drivetrain hot enough (ie: short trips, lots of idling, etc.) to burn off the water, it can increase the rate of lubricant and component deterioration.

I wonder if the changes made to your exhaust (removal of catalytic converter, new muffles, new head pipes, etc.) have simply made visible a process that has been going on all along? The rust is probably coming from what ever mild steel components are inside your new mufflers. My new S&S mufflers left the same rust stuff on the outlets. The left hand one did seem worse - probably because, when the bike's running on the side stand, that muffler is lower? What I did was spray a bunch of WD-40 (or some other preventative oil) into the mufflers. After a while, the oil and carbon and whatever must have coated the insides enough that I don't get much of that rusty dribble anymore.

Hope this helps.

Any pics of FXRT fairings? Would love to know anyone's thoughts if they have one. Really like the look of the Souza fairing, but not seeing a ton of information on it.

Ok I searched the forum for this and came up dry. Im looking at suspension for my 17 RKS. Initially I wanted Ohlins, ive ridden street bikes and always trusted Ohlins. Im sold on the Ohlins 776 for the rear. However, the FKS 228 front carts do not fit the road king. per ohlins, its due to the adjustment nut at the top, it doesn't clear the fork cover. they said some people will drill it out and put a rubber grommet around it. im hesitant to do that... has anyone here done it? seen it done? know of a video or pic of someone who has done it. I would like to keep front and rear suspension the same. like i said i trust ohlins, second i was looking at legend. I dont really want to mix and match legend AXEO fronts with ohlins rears. but, im open to going full legend REVO-A and AXEO. first choice is the ohlins FKS though. when will they make one that fits the RKS!?

I went Ohlins (HD772) on the rear and Wilber's progressive springs and oil on the front.

Any RKS owners with KST Vanguard series bars? What are you doing about the wires that will be exposed at the bottom of the uprights? Is it an issue at all?
