Okay, I'm about to order a set of Dunlop AE's for my '17 FLHRXS and remembered seeing this post a while back. My question is who has gone up in width and/or aspect ratio on their Special and how much on the stock wheels? I have Bitubo 12" on the rear now and don't plan on getting rid of them. I might also look at a different size on the front (stock suspension right now) as well but all this might end up being an availability issue as well.
I read several reviews about stick on or clamp on deflectors coming off, especially at high speeds or heavy crosswinds.
If you saw a negative Puig review on Fortnine's Youtube channel, that was me popping the press-fit double hinge assembly on my first Puig deflector while attempting a one-handed adjustment on the highway. Newer units are screwed together. Other than that, 3 Puigs + 1 Amazon cheapie were all dead-nuts reliable. My preference is for the double-hinged Puigs, which have the best optical clarity.

Being only slightly less of a dummy, I spent a small fortune on polycarb sheets making experimental shields for my metric bikes. It led me to the conclusion that the windshield is less important than the add-ons: Lower deflectors for updrafts, top deflectors to smooth & lift the airflow, and (for tall shields) ventilation to balance air pressure. Choose any 2 in combination with any windshield, and you'll probably be happy.
Edit: The 16" vented windsplitter works okay for my short-torso body (I'm 5'10" but all legs), but stll benefits from a top deflector. Fork deflectors did suprisingly little for upper body comfort compared to previous bikes.
The police model has a sprung, wide seat. Front tire slightly bigger than the front, includes a switch for front police lights, and a rear luggage rack.
0. Paying $350 opposed to $1800 or whatever it would be from harley is reason enough. I couldnt ever pay that markup on a plastic box. Color match is perfect
I got the seat from a fellow on Offerup, it was a stock touring bike take off. I had it custom upholstered to match the floorboards and dash. Please forgive the very dusty bike.

Oh! Big +1 on this, adding the lower "fangs" made the biggest buffeting difference on my RKS.
I'll add my 2 cents about the Windsplitter winshield, it sucked for me being 6'3". Back when I picked up my 20RKS pre-owned it already had the HD Windsplitter 16" which I liked the look but the wind on my head was horrible. Like a dummy I went down the rabbit hole and purchased a Freedom 20" windsplitter which was still bad. Then I doubled down and picked up a Freedom 22" windsplitter. Big mistake and it started to dawn on me it was probably the design of the windsplitter and how it curves back towards the riders head. If you are tall in the saddle the windsplitter is just not going to work. I too tried the Laminar Lip and it was no help.
I ended up with a Memphis Shades Slim 17" and love it. I still have wind but not the buffeting like I had with the splitters. The bad part was HD stopped selling the bracket kit separately for the splitter shields so trying to sell just the Windsplitter itself was impossible unless the buyer had the brackets already. I did end up selling the 16" HD Windsplitter and brackets but got stuck with the two Freedom Windshields Windsplitters.

I've been happy with my Memphis Shades windshield. I was impressed with their customer service even before I got it. A Memphis Shades wind vest type shield was on my Dyna when I bought it used. It was missing hardware. I emailed the company, explained I had bought it used and offered to pay for the parts, just needed the correct order information. Without even asking for a dime, they sent me the parts I needed. Outstanding customer service.

I just added a Le Pera Monterey solo saddle to my RKS and it has helped get me lower and further back so now the Memphis Slim works even better. I know it has a lot back but I like it. Baby got back!
I cannot say how much of a difference the touring seat made for my wife. If you travel two up, I suggest searching offerup for a seat, I got mine for under $100.
