I still think that a frame change is coming for the touring models. HD history has been staged changes on the touring platform. I would doubt the motor will change much for a while. The other models will get it next year.

The 17 could be a bastard bike if they change the frames for the 18 models. That alone would make it worth waiting since it won't be that long now before the 18 models come out. Down the road getting some parts or accessories for the 17 could be difficult just like the 05? Dynas.

If you are riding something now, never hurts to wait, but there probably always be that " wonder if they're upgrading thing", Wasn't there an announcement about 50 new models in the next 5 years, or something like that

A well-respected forum member with insider knowledge about said as much in another thread yesterday.

There are big changes coming to Harley's whole lineup for '18. Yeah, I know we've all heard that song before but this time I think it's true.

The president, CEO, or whatever made the announcement himself so the new models part is true. How much of a new model is the question.

Heck, why not wait until the 2019's or 2020's come out, they may have some upgrades. Just remember tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone. Ride safe.

I just joined "Shark Nation"...traded in my Dyna Super Glide on a 2017 Road Glide Special...all in all, I think it's a fine bike and the big improvement is the new engine, or so I hope at least! Maybe a new frame is coming, but the current one seems pretty good.

A lot of riders don't buy the first year of a new production engine in a Harley, they wait
for all the bugs to be worked out. More than likely we will see the M8 engine show up in
the Dyna's in the lineup for 18.

Rumors that a new touring frame is coming, and I am not sure the last year of an old
frame, and a new first year engine combo is a good deal.

Just Saying

I think a lot of it depends if you find a color you really like. If so find a deal you can live with. If not and want to wait for the new colors or you prefer black and have a reliable ride for the summer wait and choose the 18 or a left over 17. There will probably be a few 16's still left over someplace.
I wouldn't go without a ride this summer just to wait. Time waits for no man. Enjoy it while you can.
