Living in the UK, not so far across the North Sea from the OP, I have been using Avons to ride my American bike in European conditions, since the 1970s. I have them on all three of my V-twins....
Old thread but my MC2's were TERRIBLE in the rain. It was like ice, and if you hit a painted line you better be ready to save it. Took them off before they were worn, and I'll never run them again.
Some people love them though, maybe Im just unlucky.
Currently enjoying my american elites, and will try avon cobras next.

I had the same problem with a set of Metzelers on my Glide, back in the 1990s. In fact there was one particular stretch of road, only a mile or so long, that even on a bright sunny dry day was like riding on ice. They didn't stay on the bike long and I have never used that brand on my Glide since.
