After a 300 mile round trip on my 07 EG Classic this weekend [mostly in 5th gear due to traffic], I had an epiphany: the sound of my bike in 5th gear mimics the sound of an infestation of 7-year cicadas. Anyone who has had to endure a cicada hatch can sympathize. Constant, driving, tortuous, high-pitched whirring/whining/buzzing that never stops until you are driven to madness and contemplate suicide just to get some peace. I was actually close to blowing my glide to bits with my .357 when my wife slapped me into reality and said "snap out of it, just sell the piece-o-trash". Man, I need a vacation from Harley Davidson.
I hope a world record cicada hatch occurs in the trees surrounding the MoCo factory in Milwaukee so that they can get a dose of what they are putting us through.
I agree---put 550 miles on the Tour Classic this weekend and at times even the radio won`t drown out the noisethis is my 10th Harley inover 40 years of riding and I ain`t never had a scoot that sounds this bad---reckon it`s time to write to Harley and let them know---
Man, I've read and read and read some more about these tranny noises on 07's. I've seen those that said theirs makes no unusual noises at all, those that say they make noise but it doesn't bother them, and then posts like this where it's taken the poor guy over the top. I'm afraid when there are this many posts, and one with a poll that has over 7 pages I believe, "Milwaukee we have a problem." I haven't ridden or heard an 07, but this is a strange one. Now I'm curious to hear what the "whine" is all about I'm pretty sure I'm one of those guys that it would drive crazy, so when I get ready to sell the 06, hoping they've got this worked out.
