Default Saddlebag guard advice

I was thinking of removing the rails around my saddlebags, but that leaves two big holes in the saddlebag guard. Other than spending $300 at dealer for replacement guards, does anyone have a creative way to cover or plug the holes left by the rails, without having to use bolts

I believe you can go to a local hardware or auto part store and look for rubber plugs to seal the holes. I did this on the holes in my batwing fairing, after removing mounted mirrors.

I desided to go with the rushmore look this year just for a change of pace hahahah. read a bunch of threads.

imo best idea was makeing pastes. did all the rails that way. cut out a minature circle with black elect tape for the racks and metal shiney tape for the guards. Anything else imo draws attention to it. free. Had some non believers agree and were amazed, after they insisted i get buttons, plugs and hair bands..ect what do you have to lose in trying the paste idea

now im thinking i took off to much and woundering if the rear bumper should go back on???

look for a Limited or flhx owner who wants to trade with you.

alot of guys with out guards suffer damage from azzhats trying to park too close and want the extra rails

these probably saved my left leg:

The Bag guards will save some serious road rash to the bag and other parts if you're ever forced to put her down. I was on my FLHTCU on my way home from work early this year. A cage ran a light and turned in front of me, forcing me to lock front brake and put her down. Was probably only running 10-15. Only a small scratch on crash bar and "saddlebag bar". Unless it's on your nerves I'd leave it. Just my .02$

Yep, I took off the rails and took one look at the unprotected bags and said to myself, they won't take much of a hit and reinstalled the rails. Go figure.

Yeah that. One of the last rebuilds I did I opted to remove the bag guards. Big mistake. Jiffy finally wore out and bike went over. This on a spanking new paint job. Decided to put new guards on and found Big Buffalo guards. Very happy with my decision. Big Buffalo are super stout and not every bike on the block have them, especially in black.
