I tend to fill mine right to the top also but the more I thought about it, I rarely ever let the tank get below 1/4 full so it's redundant. I'm looking forward to installing mine this weekend.

Fail. 🤣

Went to the corner Shell to give this a try even though I still had 1/2 tank of gas. I put nozzle in and after a couple of gallons went in I had a little bit of gas spitting out. I then reduced flow and then boom, gas everywhere. I hung up the hose and went to remove the cap to see how full it was. It was then that I noticed that the hinge for the flap had broken. Fortunately it didn't fall into the tank, and at least I was smart enough to toss the old cap in a saddlebag.

Great idea. Not recommended.

I kept mine when I sold the bike. It wouldn’t work on my truck , or I would still be using it. It’s for sale.

25 shipped. Dusty from sitting.

I didn't really think much of this thread until now. Having a gas cap right in front of my crotch that might fail and allow gas to spill out ain't my idea of a good time.

Reminds me of when I was in high school I bought a used Honda CB 500 Four from a local independent shop. It had a brand new gas tank on it for some reason. I asked the owner why the tank was new and he said someone needed the original tank for a court case. He said the original tank just had a push button to open the lid. He said a guy went down and the lid opened up and spilled gas all over him and he lit up. He said Honda redesigned the gas tank lid to where it used the key to open it up so it wouldn't pop open unintentionally. The guy gave him a new tank so he could use the older style original one in a lawsuit.

I guess there can be a fine line between convenient and being careful.

It has not arrived, should be here tomorrow. I am worried after seeing 702s experience with the brand he bought.

As for the link, the pic even had the website on it: https://www.haganauto.com/product_p/fdcap.htm

The silver Sharpie marks ^^^^^^^^ are where I attacked to with a flap disc to clear the door spring.

I bought the Permacap brand. Put mine on a belft sander to relieve that area.

Used it today to fill my tank. Put the noozle in as far as I could. After it clicked off, I tried to put a little more in. Nope. Sprayed gas out so will not do thematic again.

Filled my tank as full as I could removing the gas cap. Happy with this cap now.
