Leave the bottles at home and take 'em to your trusted body man. Unless he asks for them. The trick is, as has been said, a little at a time, build the clear just a little higher than the surface and just very fine grit paper to bring it all level again, then buff or rub. One doesn't just develop those skills in one job.
I have an acquaintance that borrowed some black touch-up paint one time that I had. This clown polishes his Road King a LOT more than he rides it. He polished it so hard and so much that he wore the paint right thru the clear, past the ghost flames, and into the black. And he was so stupid that he thought the black touchup paint would fix his foul-up.
Hence the term 'acquaintance' rather than 'pal'...or 'buddy'...or 'friend'...
