Hello all I am new member.

I bought a 2005 Harley Ultra classic
This is my first Harley but not my first bike.
I love the bike but am having a hard time getting the ride to be smooth
I have the air ride rear shock. I have read the manual about adjusting the air pressure in the rear shock but still the bike rides rough. when my girlfriend goes with me on rides I adjust the pressure for both our weight and many times if I hit a bump it almost bounces her off the bike. Also when I ride I can feel every crack in the road. I have floor boards for both of us. could the rear air shock be bad? I am 6' 2" and 220lbs. when solo I run air pressure around 10 psi and when I have a passenger I run about 20 psi.
any help would be great.

thanks

I would try higher then 35 to 40 for two up. As for the front suspension. Might want to think about changing the fork oil. Maybe it has been in there a long time or it is still factory light oil. Might want to try a heavy duty oil.

I run about 25psi rear shocks with passenger. I am 250 and she is 120. check your air pressure in the tires and see where it is. I run 40 rear and 38 front Michelin commander 2 tires welcome to the forum

First thing to go on my new to me 2010 was those air shocks. I tried to dial them in but never could.

I ride Solo all the time, and I never go below 20 pounds in my shocks. When I'm on the
road and fully loaded I add 5 to 10 pounds to the shocks to carry the load.
You need more air.

Welcome to our Forum, lots of good info here.

Lose the air shocks and go with a quality adjustable shock.

We tried everything from 10-26psi using the Harley hand pump, never did get our 03 to not toss my wife. Gave up and tossed the air shocks and we're both much happier now.

The OP has an 05. Max pressure for his shocks is 30psi or he'll blow out the seals.
